My goals...
"I'm proud to have worked for you in Hartford, where I've stood up against policies from majority party Democrats who have failed to manage our state budget properly while continuing to do harm to our state's stagnant economy and job market."
COMMON SENSE ISSUES
Budget
Connecticut, as Gov. Malloy's budget director proclaimed, is in a state of "perpetual fiscal crisis." We landed there through inaction from a Democrat-led legislature which favored pet progressive projects to the recovery work on which other states focused after the Great Recession. During my brief time in Hartford, I'm proud to have consistiently offered balanced budget plans to counter those from Democrats who shattered the state spending cap as they increased taxes. Despite those record tax hikes, Connecticut faces a budget deficit of rougly $3 billion over the next two fiscal years. I'm proud to have supported a long-term vision for Connecticut earlier this year--on that would create budget surpluses and a more stable fiscal climate...without increasing your taxes!
Our Economy and Job Market
While other states made gains--Massachusetts, for example--after the Great Recession, Connecticut's economy continued to flounder under majority party Democrats who, as the Hartford Courant stated, "viewing businesses as feed bags for funding social policies rather than seed corn for a more vibrant economy." It's time that your state legislature work with employers instead of targeting them for more tax revenue.

Public Safety
I've opposed efforts from Gov. Malloy and majority party Democrats to weaken our criminal justice system, including budget cuts that will greatly diminish juvenille courts services in our area legislative changes that would weaken authority of judges and while raising the age for people who commit serious crimes to be considered youthful offenders. Significant changes to our criminal justice system should be the product of thoughtful deliberation...not budget problems and pressure from special interest groups that grip the legislative process.
